Employee Spotlight: Chris Mueller

August 16, 2019

If you happen to run into a guy strolling down Fourth Avenue with headphones and a Philadelphia Eagles jersey on, don’t harass him too much – that’s Chris Mueller, and he’s one of our Content Strategists. His love for his home and its sports teams runs deep, but he traded in all that brotherly love for a little Steel City pride after attending Robert Morris University to get his B.A. in Communications/Journalism. And we’re lucky he did.

After graduating in May 2016, Chris worked in professional sports media as a digital beat reporter covering everything from the Steelers to college football and basketball to high school sports. When he interviewed with Cosmitto, it was a no-brainer that we needed to bring him on the team. Now he dominates as a writer for Cosmitto AND freelances for the Associated Press on the side. He’s a force to be reckoned with, but we’ll let his Q&A prove it:

Get to Know Chris Mueller

Q: Why did you want to work at Cosmitto?

A: When I decided to switch from journalism to digital marketing, I pursued a position with Cosmitto because I recognized an opportunity to apply similar skills in my role as a Content Strategist. I’ve always been passionate about writing, which is still a fundamental aspect of my day-to-day responsibilities here.

After interviewing with Nikki, I was attracted to the workplace environment. It’s a great agency to grow and learn alongside ambitious young professionals who are highly motivated, yet still laid back and personable. Our staff is like a family. There’s no drama.

Q: What’s your favorite aspect of your job as a Content Strategist?

A: My favorite aspect of the job is being able to interact with clients – such as healthcare professionals, non-profit organizations, and tech companies – and establish their personal brand by intertwining their backgrounds, beliefs, and ideals into creative forms of content.

Q: What’s your dream job?

A: My dream is to work on digital marketing campaigns for high-profile music artists and athletes – allowing me to regularly interact with them, tell their stories, and travel the world.

Q: What are you most passionate about?

A: More than anything, I’m passionate about music. There aren’t many instances where you’ll find me without my headphones on. I’m constantly searching for new music and artists and try to catch as many live shows as possible. I’m also passionate about sports (especially Philadelphia sports) and creative journalism.

Q: What’s the best social campaign you’ve seen recently?

A: The Toronto Raptors’ Twitter and Instagram campaigns during their NBA championship run.

Q: What are your favorite Twitter accounts to follow?

A: I enjoy Complex, Rolling Stone, and The Fader – where I consume most of my music news and song releases. I also enjoy ESPN and other sports-related Twitter accounts.

Q: Where is the coolest place you’ve ever been?

A: Last fall, I visited my cousin in LA. I loved the sunny weather, beaches, cafes, and the abundance of dogs. I can envision myself living there one day.

Q: What’s one thing you could eat every day?

A: Anything buffalo chicken. Wings, wraps, sandwiches, dip, etc.

Q: What are some of your favorite movies?

A: Off the top of my head, Friday Night Lights and Silver Linings Playbook are two of my favorites.

Q: What are some of your favorite books?

A: I recently read The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho and loved it.

Q: What’s one song you could listen to on endless repeat?

A: Reborn by Kanye West and Kid Cudi.

Q: Coffee, tea, or other?

A: It’s a tie between an iced coffee with almond milk or green tea.

Q: What’s your spirit animal?

A: I’m a Leo, so I’d go with a lion as my spirit animal.

Q: What’s your favorite thing about Pittsburgh?

A: Pittsburgh is awesome. It has a big-city feel to it, but still small enough to get from Point A to  Point B pretty easily. It’s a lot of fun, the people are friendly, and the food/bar scene is on point.

Q: Pierogies or Primantis?

A: PBros.

Q: What’s the first thing you’d do if you won the lottery?

A: Make sure my family is taken care of, donate some to charity, and then travel the world with a significant other or friend(s).

Q: What is your biggest fear?

A: I’m not a fan of heights.

Q: What are three things still left on your bucket list?

A: Three bucket list items are to live on the west coast, have a byline in Rolling Stone, and travel to Ibiza.

Q: Who do you hope to be in 5 years?

A: I hope to be writing professionally in some capacity (digital marketing, journalism, or both) while residing on the west coast with my girlfriend and a dog named Malcolm. I hope to be living a happy, healthy, fun, and fulfilling life surrounded by awesome family and friends.

When [Chris] interviewed with Cosmitto, it was a no-brainer that we needed to bring him on the team.
